  5. Heat for approximately 35 minutes or until the leaves of the artichoke can be easily plucked.
  6. The part of the artichoke that connects to its leaves can be eaten and enjoyed with dipping sauce. After removing all the leaves, you will see a fuzzy, center part that is inedible.
  7. Remove the fuzzy center part of the artichoke, leaving only the artichoke heart. The preparation is complete.

Method:

  1. Clean the artichokes.
  2. Prepare a bowl of water. Cut one lemon in half and squeeze its juice into the water, reserve the other half for later use.
  3. Trim the aged part of the artichoke stem. Cut off the top 1/3 of the artichoke.
  4. Remove the aged leaves. You can distinguish which leaves to keep and which to remove by their color; keep the yellowish ones and remove the green ones. Place the prepared artichokes in the water from step 2 to prevent oxidation.
  5. Peel the outer layer of the artichoke stem and rub the cut surfaces with lemon to prevent oxidation.
  6. Cut the artichokes in half and remove the fuzzy center part. After preparing, place the artichokes back into the water from step 2.
  7. Preparing for roasting: Preheat the oven to 200°C for 5 minutes. Brush a layer of olive oil on a baking tray. Slice the garlic cloves and the lemon.
  8. Drain the artichokes and place them on the baking tray. Sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and Dried basil shreds.
  9. Place the garlic slices on the surface of the artichokes or in between the leaves. Sprinkle breadcrumbs and drizzle olive oil on top.
